Female Empowerment at Westwing
Munich, March 8th 2022. 63% of the team members of Westwing are female, 59% of the leaders are female and there are four female members in the executive team. Even nowadays, this is very rare. In 2021, the share of women on the executive board of DAX30 companies was still only 18% and only 3.3% of DAX30 CEOs in Germany were female. Westwing wants to make a change for the company by sharing internal learnings and experiences from and for women in business to strengthen Westwing’s female team members.
Starting today on International Women’s Day, Westwing is kicking off 18 internal insight sessions with 27 amazing women who work at Westwing. Offering the team members sessions in large settings (Insight Session) and in smaller workshops (Brown Bag Session) to cover everything from female entrepreneurship, empowering female literature, women in Tech, leadership training, systemic coaching, how to manage career and family – and many more. The sessions are hosted by speakers from the Westwing headquarters and from other Westwing operating countries like Poland, Spain and Czech Republic.
Delia Lachance, founder and Chief Creative Officer at Westwing, hosts an internal session about female entrepreneurship and gives personal tips: “Find your own way of communicating in business. The business world has been so male driven for decades or even hundreds of years. All the behavior, mechanisms and what is kind of seen as normal business communication is so much from a male perspective, that we as women don’t have to necessarily adapt to everything. So really think about your own way of communicating and expressing yourself.”
With these sessions, open to every team member at Westwing, the company wants to inspire, support and motivate women in their careers by sharing knowledge, stories and thoughts of successful business women while creating an environment for this.
