WESTWING INSIGHTS: Social Impact Day at Westwing
Munich, 24th May 2022. Social commitment and sustainable behavior are deeply anchored in Westwing’s values. In April, Westwing’s first Social Impact Day took place on the initiative of its team members. Westwing offered one working day and our teams used their working hours to volunteer in different local and remote social projects, ranging from animal welfare to environmental and social volunteering.
Early last year, an internal survey about sustainability was conducted. The finding of this survey was that Westwing’s team members wished to support Westwing in its Sustainability Vision and to actively engage in order to shape a more sustainable world. To support as many different projects as possible, the project groups were kept to a relatively small size with an overall participation of almost 300 volunteers in 25 projects.
Examples of projects our team members engaged in included serving meals to people in need, collecting waste along the Isar River, caring for senior home residents, collecting food from the community kitchen, helping refugees with job application coaching, doing community service with children, and working with the Animal Welfare Society. Due to recent events in the Ukraine, each team member was given the opportunity to use another day off to volunteer for Ukrainian projects on any day that help was needed.
It is great to see that through the initiative of our team members and their care for social engagement, great projects can come to life to help others in need.
